University of Texas at San Antonio: General Information and University History Collection 1967-2003

The University of Texas at San Antonio was established in 1969. As of 2009, the University comprises three campuses: UTSA's Main Campus in northwest San Antonio, its Downtown Campus, and the HemisFair Park Campus, which includes the Institute of Texan Cultures museum. The collection spans the years 1967 through 2009 and includes general materials documenting the history and development of the University of Texas at San Antonio. Materials include correspondence and memoranda, programs and invitations, speeches and presentations, organizational charts, meeting minutes, self-study reports and accreditation files, magazine articles, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, booklets on the establishment of the university, a copy of the legislative bill that established the UTSA, a Faculty Handbook, audiotapes, audiocassettes, and other materials. Materials seem to have emanated primarily from the office of the second UTSA President, Peter T. Flawn, but the collection also includes material from the offices of Presidents Arleigh Templeton, James Wagener, Samuel Kirkpatrick, and Ricardo Romo.
